Green Your Commute

To green your commute, there are a range of options available that are good for your pocketbook and good for the planet. County employees can do their part by using the green fleet for work-related activities whenever possible. Other easy options include carpooling to work, taking the train for weekend trips, or riding your bike to run errands. You don't have to give up your car every day, but carpooling or biking even once or twice a week helps reduce your environmental impact. If we each do our small part, collectively we can make a difference.

Business Actions

Promote Carpooling

The County of Ventura makes it easy for your employees to carpool to work. You can encourage them to organize their own carpools with coworkers or suggest they use the County's rideshare program. If employees register with VCTC Ride Matching, it will create a customized RideGuide tailored to an individual's situation. Consider providing preferential parking to employees who carpool.

Encourage Biking

More and more employees are biking to work every day. Not only is it a great way to help the environment, it also keeps your employees healthy. And healthier employees are happier employees. Show your support for biking by allowing for flexible work schedules and relaxed employee dress codes.

Provide Incentives for Taking Public Transit

Reward your employees who take public transit to work by subsidizing public transit passes. Subsidies make commuting easier, more affordable, and eco-friendly.
