For the contractors and trades involved in residential and small commercial projects, Zero Net Energy (ZNE) is on the rise, to meet the energy code as well as client expectations. In this introductory course, we’ll review the most critical components of Zero Net Energy so next time a client asks for ZNE, your answer is, sure we can do that!

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the drivers for ZNE and the related lingo including building electrification, zero-carbon, offsets, true-ups and mixed-fuel.
  • Learn the role of heat pumps for ZNE and tips for selection and installation of all-electric equipment for heating, cooling and hot water
  • Be able to help clients navigate all-electric choices for appliances including vent less dryers and induction cooktops.
  • Understand options and best practices for incorporating renewable energy and battery storage
