Ventura, CA – The Sustainability Division and Ventura County Library has been awarded the Sustainable California Libraries grant from the California State Library.
Titled, Explore, Discover, Connect – Sustainable Living Practices program, the grant will achieve Green Business Certification for El Rio, Piru, and Saticoy Libraries. Monthly bilingual presentations on sustainability-themed topics will be provided for families interested in how they can incorporate what the libraries did to their own homes. Presentation topics may include Home Energy Audits and Efficiency, All-Electric Kitchen Education, Home Heating and Cooling, or Electric Vehicle Basics. Each event’s presentation will be paired with sustainability-themed learning activities for youth. Lastly, sustainable toolkits will be given to these libraries to Library of Things Expansion: The project will expand Ventura County’s Library of Things at three libraries to encourage residents to explore sustainability in their homes, businesses, or workplaces.
